Our Green Teams are our youngest members of the competitive swim team, ably led by Coach Tarsi and our student coaches.
The Green Team has always been an important part of our program, and as such we have created several exciting events that are focused just for them:
Meet schedule for Green Team
SCIS Hongqiao Invite
SCISP Turkey Trot Event
Santa Splash (December)
SCIS Dragon Cup (February)
SCIS Internal Meet (TBC)
All of these meets are 'half-day' meets for our youngest swimmers, and allow them to compete in meets that are spread out throughout the year. We allow students to sign up for the races that they are most comfortable with and that they will be successful in.
The Green Team follows the general structure of the ASA's in Lower School with 4x6 week blocks of instruction followed by a short break. There will not be any swimming for both Green Teams during the short breaks.
Q1 - Monday Sept 5 - Friday October 21
Q2 - TBA
Q3 - TBA
Q4 - TBA
Specific Team Policies
Both Green Teams follow general policies and procedures of the main SCIS swim program, as outlined in our handbook. Green Team swimmers are expected to be able to change by themselves in the changing room, walk with a buddy to and from the bus area and be responsible for themselves at a swimming competition.
Green Team swimmers will not travel outside of Shanghai with the main SCIS team, on overnight or full day trips, unless they make specific qualifying swim times, and qualify as a Dragons Team swimmer, and have demonstrated a prior ability and maturity to compete as a Dragons Team swimmer. This will be a decision that will be reached by the coaching staff.
The Lower School swim coach, who is also the Aquatics Coordinator, is the first point of call for any questions (email@example.com). It is important that communication is directed within the team to resolve any questions that parents might have.
Lower School parents are not permitted to observe the full swim session, as this can be a distraction for their children and takes away from their swimming experience. They may observe the last 15 minutes of the lesson from the observation deck area next to the pool, and should enter the pool through the dry-side area from the black box.
The Lower School swim session starts at 3:10pm and finishes at 3:50pm.
Lower school parents are requested not to disturb coaching staff during coaching times - please wait until 4:00pm at the changeover point, or contact one of us during the day by email.
Communication is normally through email with the coaches, and we aim to try to answer all communication within 48h of receiving it. Any communication which needs further clarification may take a little longer.
